The brazen terror attack on Air Force base in Pathankot was carried out on the direct orders of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence. According to the latest reports, senior ISI officials met the top leader of Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e- Mohammed in December 2015 and called for cooperation between the two leading terror groups to carry out attacks on civilian and military installations inside India.

A group of seven to eight terrorists sneaked into India through Gurdaspur border on 31 December. According to the latest reports, six terrorists have been killed in gun battle with security forces and hunt for remaining two terrorists is still going on. All these men were trained for seven months in Bahawalpur and they were regularly in touch with Haji Abdul Shakoor and Maulana Ashfaq Ahmed.

The aim of these terrorists was to destroy the MIG-21 and MI-35 attack helicopters. One Garud commando, one Lieutenant Colonel of NSG Bomb Disposal Unit and three Defence Service Core soldiers have been killed during the operations.
